vCard QR code how to
How to make a vCard QR code that saves to phones
A vCard QR code holds your contact facts. Guests scan it and save you in one tap. It fits cards, signs, and name tags.
What to type in each field
Open the free QR tool and pick Contact card. Type your full name first. Use the name people know you by. Then add one phone number with area code. Add one email that you check each day.
The workplace line is for your shop, group, or team. Add it if it helps people place you. Skip fax, home address, and notes unless you truly need them. Each extra line adds small squares. Short cards scan from far off. Long cards need close, still phones.
Check each digit. One wrong digit sends calls to the wrong place. Read the email back to front. Look for missing dots and swapped letters. Press Make QR code when the facts look right.
Phone save test before you print
Hold your phone up to the screen. On iPhone, the Camera app shows the name and a Create Contact link. Tap it. Look at each line. Does the phone split first and last name right? Does the number sit in the phone slot? Save it, then delete the test save.
On Android, the Camera app shows Add contact or Save. Tap it and check the same lines. Test one iPhone and one Android if you can. Ask a friend to scan fresh with no past save on their phone. That shows what a new guest will see. For WiFi join codes for your shop, see our WiFi QR code guide.
Print and use tips
Print at least 1.5 inches wide. Two inches suits a desk sign. Use dark ink on white stock. Keep a plain white edge round the code. Do not print on gloss that glares. Tape it flat in good light.
Put your name in print under the code as back up. If a scan fails, people can still type your number. Make a new code any time your number changes. A print never updates on its own. Your facts stay on your device while you make the code.
vCard QR code questions
What should I put in a vCard QR code?
Put your full name plus one phone number and one email. Add your workplace only if it helps people reach you. Short cards scan best, so skip extra lines you do not need.
How do I test if my contact QR saves on phones?
Point your phone camera at the code on screen. Tap the contact prompt, check the name, phone, and email, then save it. Test on both iPhone and Android before you print.
Why does my vCard QR code look hard to scan?
Long text makes small squares that are hard to read. Cut extra fields, print at least 1.5 inches wide in dark ink on white paper, and keep a plain white edge round the code.
